A beautiful market town in the heart of Suffolk
The attractive market town of Framlingham is dominated by a Norman castle which was the seat of the Earls and Dukes of Norfolk. The Mere alongside the castle is managed by Suffolk Wildlife Trust and a circular footpath enables visitors to appreciate the abundance of wild flowers and wildlife. The Town Trail is a great way of finding out more about the town’s history and interesting buildings.
The Market Hill contains a number of different period houses and the town has a selection of restaurants, pubs and cafes to suit a range of budgets and tastes. In recent years, Country Life magazine has voted Framlingham the number one place to live in the country.
The award winning Shawsgate Vineyard nearby offers winetasting, tours and a childrens play area with a retail outlet selling their wide range of wines, ciders and non-alcoholic grape juices.
